Amapá Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare var. "Amapá") – Wild Elegance from the Amazon 🌿👑

The Amapá Angelfish is a stunning wild-type variant of the classic freshwater angelfish, originating from the Amapá region of Brazil. Known for its tall, graceful fins, silvery body, and bold vertical black stripes, this angelfish brings a touch of natural Amazonian beauty and sophistication to any aquarium.

👑 Personality & Appearance:
Amapá Angelfish are peaceful but can become territorial when spawning. Their elegant fins and natural colouring give them a commanding presence, especially in well-planted or biotope-style tanks.

🌿 Care Guide:

  • Tank Size: Minimum 150L for a pair or small group

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 25–30°C

    • pH: 6.0–7.0

    • Soft, slightly acidic water preferred

  • Diet: Omnivorous – enjoys flakes, high-quality pellets, and frozen/live foods like bloodworms and brine shrimp

  • Temperament: Generally peaceful but can be territorial when breeding

  • Best Kept In: Pairs or small groups; avoid very small tankmates

🪴 Aquascaping Tip:
Amapá Angelfish thrive in tall tanks with vertical plants, driftwood, and soft lighting. They do especially well in Amazon biotope-style setups with leaf litter and subdued flow.

🌎 Bring the elegance of the wild Amazon into your home with the graceful and natural beauty of the Amapá Angelfish.
