The Maculata Rasbora (Boraras maculatus), also known as the Dwarf Rasbora, is a tiny and peaceful schooling fish known for its warm red-orange colouration and distinctive dark body spots. Its small size and gentle nature make it especially well suited to heavily planted nano aquariums and calm community setups.

Social behaviour: Schooling/shoaling species and should be kept in groups of at least 8–10, with larger groups strongly preferred

Tank mates: Best with other very small, peaceful species such as Boraras, small rasboras, pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus and peaceful shrimp

Avoid with: Large, boisterous or aggressive fish that may intimidate or eat them

Diet: Micropredatory/omnivorous; feed very small flakes, micro pellets and appropriately sized frozen or live foods such as baby brine shrimp, cyclops and daphnia

Maculata Rasboras are strongly social fish and should not be kept alone or in very small groups. Keeping a larger school helps them feel more secure, encourages natural behaviour and usually brings out their best colouration.
