The Marble Ghost Knife Fish is a rare and mesmerizing freshwater species known for its ribbon-like body, graceful swimming, and electric personality. With stunning marbled black-and-white patterns and hypnotic movement, this nocturnal beauty makes a captivating centrepiece for experienced aquarists.
🖤 Appearance & Personality:
With its elongated body and marble-like pattern, the Marble Ghost Knife glides through the water with ghost-like elegance. Shy but intelligent, it prefers dim lighting, quiet tank mates, and plenty of hiding spaces. Over time, it may even begin to recognize its keeper!
📏 Size:
These fish can grow up to 40–50cm (16–20 inches) in length, so a large tank is essential. Juveniles may start small but grow steadily with proper care.
🌿 Care Guide:
Tank Size: 200L+ (larger for adults)
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 24–28°C
pH: 6.5–7.5
Soft to moderately hard water
Diet: Carnivorous – live or frozen foods like bloodworms, blackworms, brine shrimp, and high-protein sinking pellets
Temperament: Peaceful but territorial with similar species
Best Kept With: Calm, mid-to-top dwelling fish – avoid fin-nippers or aggressive tank mates
🪴 Aquascaping Tip:
Provide plenty of hiding places using driftwood, rocks, or PVC pipes. Use fine sand as a substrate to protect their sensitive underbelly. Dim lighting or floating plants help reduce stress and encourage natural behaviour.
⚠️ Note: Marble Ghost Knife Fish use weak electric signals to navigate and communicate. It’s best to keep only one per tank unless you're working with a very large system.
