The Green Rasbora is a small, peaceful schooling fish admired for its bright green-blue iridescent colouration and lively swimming behaviour. Its shimmering body stands out beautifully in planted aquariums, making it an excellent choice for peaceful nano and community setups.

  • Adult size: Approximately 2–3 cm

  • Temperament: Peaceful and social

  • Social behaviour: Schooling/shoaling species and should be kept in groups of at least 8–10, with larger groups preferred

  • Tank mates: Suitable with other small peaceful fish such as rasboras, small tetras, pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus and peaceful shrimp

  • Avoid with: Large, aggressive or highly boisterous fish that may intimidate or eat them

  • Recommended temperature: 23–28°C

  • Recommended pH: Approximately 5.5–7.5

  • Water hardness: Soft to moderately hard

  • Minimum tank size: Around 30–40 L for a small group, with larger tanks preferred for bigger schools

  • Tank setup: Best kept in a mature, planted aquarium with gentle filtration, shaded areas and plenty of open swimming space

  • Diet: Omnivorous; feed fine flakes, micro pellets and small frozen or live foods such as baby brine shrimp, daphnia and cyclops

  • Care level: Beginner to intermediate

Neon Green Rasboras are social fish that should not be kept alone. A larger school helps them feel secure, encourages more natural behaviour and creates a much more impressive shimmering display throughout the aquarium.
